CBC Monkstown Park Junior School
Welcome to the CBC Monkstown Park Junior School website.
CBC Monkstown Park Junior School is an independent, fee-paying, primary school, in the Catholic tradition, catering for pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. Each child is individually known to the Principal and staff and is educated in a warm, caring and happy atmosphere. Our pupils learn, grow and work together in an environment of co-operation and mutual respect.
As a look through our website will confirm, the school is a vibrant and busy place with constant different activities featuring throughout the year. It was Mark Twain who said "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education" and we like to make the educational experience in the school be as broad as we can manage, in a fun and happy atmosphere.
Small class numbers ensure that each child gets plenty of one to one attention and their individual talents can be nurtured. Our extensive grounds provide an ideal backdrop for sporting ambitions and outdoor activities.
Our parade on the final day of Seachtain na Gaeilge was a great success as usual. Once again the boys excelled in dressing up for the day and our 'Irish phrase of the day' for Seachtain na Gaeilge was used with enthusiasm. Below is a very impromptu take on 'Ireland's Call'
Mol an Óige
Well done to James and Cal in 6th who were invited to an award ceremony in Dun Laoghaire for their contribution to 'Write a Book'
The Conker Competition has been in existence for over a decade and this year's final was on Friday 25th October(Jersey Day) and took place in the hall. The competition itself, although fiercely contested, is a fund raiser for our school charity fund. This year's final took place between James from 6th class and Christian from 5th class. Congratulations to both for getting to the final and well done to James who was the eventual winner. A clip of the last minute of the competition can be seen below.
Well done to Padraig who represented the school at the Dlr recycled Christmas Decoration competition.
Padraig made a great Christmas sleigh complete with Santa using a variety of materials that can be recycled.
A Dojo is now up and running in the school and is proving very popular with the boys who are learning all about programming.
Fork to Fork(with apologies to Monty
The boys harvested the vegetables we had sown from seed and sets in the spring and were pleasantly surprised at their harvest.
We decided to make soup for all the classes from our vegetables and at assembly the boys prepared the vegetables and Mrs Tuohy made the soup which we had at little break.

Well done to Fourth Class who held their Toy Sale in aid of the Edmund Rice Children's Fund on Thursday 13th February. They raised the great amount of €179.25 .Well done boys. This is only one of the many events organised for raising funds for a range of charities. There has always been a very strong tradition in the Junior School of Charity Fundraising. Each class is responsible for raising funds and there are many inventive ideas for fundraising events. See our gallery page for photographs.
A special welcome to our new Junior Infants and to the boys who have joined other classes in the school. We hope you will be very happy here.
The boys had a visit from 'Down to Earth Theatre Company who put on an environmental themed play called 'A Breath of Fresh Air'. It was an excellent production which got across an important message in a fun and enjoyable way. Thank you to dlr for arranging the visit.
