The
CBC Junior School Parents Committee aims to provide the boys with a fun
and enjoyable academic year. We organise a range of events for the boys during
the school term in addition to events to include the parents. Activities are designed
to be inclusive for all boys, cater for sporting and other interest, introduce
the boys to new experiences and preserve the traditions and ethos of the school.
We are voluntary group of parents who work along side the teachers and
staff providing support and encouragement for any extra curricular activities.
We are not involved in any academic or management role within the Junior School.
The Committee hold several fundraising events throughout the year. These
funds are used for funding events for the boys and providing the Holy Communion
boys and their parents with a lovely party in the school.
All these events
are great fun for the boys and their parents and most are now a firm tradition
in the school.
The Parents Committee has three sub-committees namely:
The Library Sub-Committee
runs the library and allows the boys to take books out on a weekly basis. They
hold competitions and book fairs throughout the year and organise a great Christmas
table quiz for the boys from 2nd to 6th classes.
The Nutrition
Sub-Committee provides a wide range of healthy eating sampling days for the
boys. They have a Nutrition Day at least once a month and include samples of fruit,
vegetables with dips and chicken noodle soup with sourdough dumplings, to name
but a few !
The Rugby Sub-Committee helps to organise the boys
from 3rd to 6th class in their training and their matches. Many parents help with
Saturday training in September and October. Most have attended IRFU training courses
and they then work alongside the coaches when the matches begin. The Committee
helps in providing any equipment the teams need including First Aid Kits and training
equipment. Coffee and teas along with drinks and snacks are provided at the home
games as well.
